Sometimes you just need to do it!!

Updated: Dec 8, 2023

I have been trying to figure out how to make a website, what to call my business, where to start....so here I am. I've decided on a business name and made a website. Now here is my very first blog! Now I just need to figure out a logo and colors...OYYYY, that will come in time. But for now...my first post:

For the past umpteen years, I also have trying to figure out my own health issues. I am still learning what works for me, for my body, for my health. I am in week 7 of a reset program and I am feeling great. I lost 22 pounds during the first 6 weeks which is the losing phase. Week 7 through Week 10 is the Maintenance phase where I will incorporate the foods I eliminated during the first 6 weeks, but one at a time. This will give me an idea of how each food item works for me. I will be able to tell if something upsets my stomach, gives me gas, a headache, skin rashes or breakout, etc. Basically, this plan eliminates dairy, grains, fats, even healthy fats for the losing phase-the first six weeks. The focus is on getting just enough protein and carbs for your body to use for basic needs, and within a few days, without having enough carbs for energy, the body turns to using its own body fat for fuel. So the weight loss after the first week is truly body fat. I have lost 28" overall from my body. That is so crazy, but amazing! I am sleeping through the night, something I haven't done in years. I am fitting into my clothes again that have been sitting in my "one day" bins for years. (How many of you have those bins?!?).

Menopause kicked my butt! My hormones went wacky and my thyroid condition worsened, I have struggled with hypothyroid and Hashimoto's since age 32. I tried so many programs to lose weight. I even tried Optavia 5 years ago where I shed lots of weight eating powdered foods and bars, but when I started eating food again, I gained it all back. YIKES! With this current program, I am eating real food, real protein, real veggies and a piece of fruit after each meal to keep the blood sugar balanced. Everything is weighed for accuracy and to keep me in check. I am getting healthy, that is a different concept than just losing weight. At this age (56), I need to be healthy, not just skinny.

Last year I got my certification as a Functional Nutrition Counselor. This was an eye opening experience for sure. As a Registered Nurse, I did not realize how much I did not know about nutrition and using food as medicine. This opened up a whole new world of information for me including the use of herbs and organic food vs. conventional food, toxins in our environment and how our body processes everything at a cellular level. There is just so much to talk about and so much more to learn, but I am so excited to share with you the things I have learned so far. For now, though, I will end it here.

If you are still reading this, thank you for sticking with me, and thank you for being you!

Until next time, Bobbi
